Imperial Pie (Carska pita)
Imperial Pie (Carska pita)
The first recipe I would like to share with you is a recipe for a pie that I make very often. I make this pie when I have unexpected guests because it is very quick to make, as well as for all kinds of celebrations or dinners.
Pie is quick to make, easy to prepare, and very tasty. There are many recipes for this pie and I will share my favorite that I have been using for years.
The measuring unit for this pie is a teacup (about 200ml).
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes - 40 minutes
Level: Easy
Servings: 6 people
Ingredients needed:
4 eggs
1 cup of yogurt
1 cup of oil
2 cups of flour
1 bag of baking powder (12g)
150 g of ham or bacon or salami of your choice
150 g of white cheese of your choice
80 g of pickles
80 g of roasted red pepper
Salt to taste
Cumin and sesame for sprinkling
Preparation:
1. Chop onion, pickles, and pepper and mix in a bowl.
2. Mix the eggs, oil, yogurt and salt
3. Mix the flour with the baking powder and add to the mixture and mix
4. Add chopped pickles, onion, and pepper to the mixture and stir well. Mash the cheese and add it to the mixture and mix well again.
5. Pour the resulting mixture into a tray previously greased or lined with baking paper. If desired, sprinkle with cumin and sesame seeds.
Bake in an oven preheated to 392 °F (200 °Celsius) for about half an hour (when it gets a nice brownish color, it's ready)
Cooking tip: Pierce the pie with a toothpick when you think it's ready. The pie must still be baked if the dough remains on the toothpick. If the dough does not remain on the toothpick, it is ready.
Additional tip: You can pour the pie mixture into a muffin tin and bake it that way.
Bon appetit!
